We have been receiving questions asking how secure is Bluetooth Mesh. The main feature is that all messages are doubly encrypted using AES-CCM encryption with 128-bit keys. There’s both network level and transport level encryption.
However, there’s much more to security than just encryption. The Bluetooth Mesh Security Overview explains further concepts implemented in Bluetooth Mesh such as such as area isolation, key refresh, message obfuscation, replay attack protection, trashcan attack protection and secure device provisioning. An article on 3 Ways Bluetooth Mesh is Inherently Secure explains more about device keys.
