Tracker beacons are Bluetooth beacons designed specifically for tracking physical items or remote camera button-type applications but they can be used for other purposes. Unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/ibeacon\" target=\"_blank\">iBeacon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/eddystone\" target=\"_blank\">Eddystone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/sensor\" target=\"_blank\">Sensor<\/a> beacons, there&#8217;s no configuration app, the Bluetooth advertising data is fixed and can&#8217;t be re-configured.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/bt-10_smaller.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tracker beacons differ from (most) iBeacons in that they, once connected via Bluetooth GATT, allow the beacon to ring, can detect a beacon button press and the beacon can ring when it goes out of range.<\/p>\n<p>Tracker beacons can also be used, without GATT connection, to detect presence by using their MAC address on Android\/gateways, or peripheral id on iOS CoreBluetooth, to uniquely identify them.<\/p>\n<p>There are many poor quality tracker beacons on the market that are unreliable.
