The event seemed to be about twice the size of last year&#8217;s smaller IoT TechExpo which shows the growth in interest in IoT. Also, it&#8217;s the first time there&#8217;s a presence by one of the IT &#8216;heavyweights&#8217;, Microsoft. However, the large number of IoT platform providers exhibiting doesn&#8217;t bode well for that particular sector. They can&#8217;t all survive. We found the Tech Expo a bit strange in that it has some end-user, consumer IoT solutions exhibiting next door to components suppliers, industrial sensors and software suppliers. The IoT Expo doesn&#8217;t really know yet what it is or rather who it is targeted at &#8211; much like IoT we suppose.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1322 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2017londonexpo-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2017londonexpo-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2017londonexpo-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2017londonexpo-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/2017londonexpo.jpg 1040w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we saw that was Bluetooth LE specific:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBeaconZone\/status\/698068215977664512\" target=\"_blank\">last year<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beaniot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">bean iot<\/a> where showing their sensor Bluetooth LE bean. They are now showing actual working beans rather than printed circuit boards. They also have a backend showing sensor data from the beans.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueid.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blue ID<\/a> were promoting their secure access solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Advantech were showing their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.advantech.com\/products\/embedded-iot-gateway\/sub_92d96fda-cdd3-409d-aae5-2e516c0f1b01\" target=\"_blank\">IoT Gateway Solutions<\/a> that support Bluetooth.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.insightsip.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Insight SIP<\/a> were exhibiting their Bluetooth LE modules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We visited the IoT Tech Expo today in London.
