{"id":1673,"date":"2024-11-08T09:56:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T09:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1673"},"modified":"2024-11-08T09:56:39","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T09:56:39","slug":"ibeacon-app-development-considerations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beaconzone.co.uk\/blog\/ibeacon-app-development-considerations\/","title":{"rendered":"iBeacon App Development Considerations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you are considering writing apps to communicate with iBeacons, here are some high level things you need to think about that are specific to beacon app development:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Detecting whether Location and Bluetooth are on\/off and alerting the user for permission to use these<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detecting beacons in background when the iOS app is closed or the Android app is in doze mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On Android, taking account of the various Bluetooth APIs that exist for the different Android releases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fetching data, associated with a beacon, from a service, such that it&#8217;s cached and not fetched every time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arranging for some initial data bundled with the app so that it works straight away without a data connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fetching data before it is needed such that it&#8217;s available with no delay and when there&#8217;s no network connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Re-fetching of data when it becomes stale<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fetching metadata from the server to control the behaviour of triggering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arranging how Apple will test the app for app review otherwise complications will arise and the review will take weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assessing whether to use the mobile OS or manufacturer supplied SDKs (or both)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If connecting to beacons, taking account of the unreliability of wireless connections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collecting and uploading statistics\/analytics to assess usage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing end user diagnostics to aid support troubleshooting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Need an experienced beacon app developer to get these things done quicker?
