The ABSniffer 528 scans for devices and sends the data via USB/TTL plugged into a PC, Mac, Linux or Raspberry Pi. It shows up on the Raspberry Pi as /dev/ttyACM0. It communicates with PC through a virtual UART port.

Sending "AT+SCAN1" to the UART port RX responds with the devices nearby, for example:

The response contains the MAC address, RSSI, advertising type, advertisement data length and the advertising data.
It can detect up to 100 advertisements per second.

This device is based on the Nordic's NRF52832 and uses a CP2104 to provide a USB Serial interface. The NRF52832 is re-programmable using Nordic tools, SDKs and J-Link (see pins in above image).
