Gateways automatically detect beacons and pass on advertising data, usually via WiFi, Ethernet connetion or USB port. This allows subsequent desktops, servers or cloud services to detect beacons that are either no longer present or have come into range. For beacons that advertise battery levels, gateways also allow battery levels to be monitored remotely. Sensor data such as acceleration, temperature and humidity in advertising data can also be sent to servers to provide for IoT scenarios.
